Online video streaming, readings, discussions and other activities will be a central part of this course. We will use the Haiku Learning system that makes it easy for you to keep up with assignments and due dates. Your sponsoring teacher at school will receive a “parent” account which will allow them to keep up with what you’re doing in the course and support your efforts.
The online environment will allow you to customize the course content and requirements for your particular interests. Environmentalism is a very broad field and you will have the choice of focusing in on a particular area such as food systems, bioengineering, consumerism or climate change, for example.
A full 50% of the course content and value will exist entirely online. It is absolutely essential that you have reliable internet access and that you make a point of checking the course site daily. If you are not able to do this, but want to take the course, please call Shelly (614-688-3986) or email her to discuss options. If you have reliable internet access but aren’t committed to checking your email and/or the course site every day during the class, this isn’t the right class for you!
